Incorporating logos into design is an important element in establishing brand recognition. In 1996 the U.S. Olympic Committee and NBC teamed together to create an 11-show series celebrating the centennial Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. 2820 produced the title sequence for the series. The titles showed different athletes performing in a space that contained key years and locations as animating graphics; these represented different moments in Olympic history. The arcs of color and typography were derived from elements of the centennial Olympic logo. The graphic environment was made of two columns also representative of Olympics past and present. In effect, athletes led viewers through history to the Olympic logo in an environment containing all the images important to the celebration of the centennial Olympic games. This device graphically branded the 11-show series.
